Holistic Iridology the Basics
At the very basic definition of iridology, each and every fiber, color, pattern, and defect in the iris is believed to have a reflex correlation to the many different organ systems in the body. By studying the iris and surrounding eye area, iridologists obtain a picture of a patient's overall health, as well as their tendencies toward inherited disease and possible future problems. The degree in which these systems function can be learned through the study and observation of the iris; disease manifestation or organ system malfunction can first be seen in the patterns of the iris before any other physical indicator is present.
Alternative medicine practitioners use iridology exams
Iridology ( traditional & digital )
In the United States there are only a handful of iridologists nationwide. Iridology is more widely practiced in Europe and is a very popular branch of alternative medicine in the United Kingdom and Germany. Iridology gained popularity in the States in the 1950s when Bernard Jensen, an American chiropractor, began giving classes in his own method, becoming the pioneer in iridology.
Using iridology charts, practitioners are able to distinguish between healthy systems and organs in the body and those which are overactive, inflamed, or distressed. Information obtained from an iridology exam is used to demonstrate a patient's susceptibility towards particular illnesses, to reveal past medical problems, and predict health problems which may be developing or underlying where physical indicators have not yet revealed themselves.
The Greek physician Hippocrates, the father of medicine said, “It is more important to know what sort of person has a disease, than to know what sort of disease a person has.” In eastern medicine, the Chinese distinguish health tendencies from the size, shape, and set of the eyes. Indian Ayurvedic medicine takes the color of a person’s eyes in consideration when determining the type of dosha or constitution.
